- Tian Lipu Commissioner of China's State Intellectual Property Office
Having joined what was then the Chinese Patent Office in 1981, Tian Lipu held several positions within the agency before it was renamed the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) in 1998. During that period Tian was a visiting scholar at Germany's prestigious Max-Planck Institute, and conducted research in the European Patent Office, the German Patent Office and the German Patent Court.
In 2005, Tian took over the post of Commissioner of SIPO and has subsequently brought to the role much of what he learnt during his earlier career. He has dramatically increased the agency's size, efficiency and quality. Under his leadership, SIPO has become one of the leading five patent issuing authorities in the world.

Wu Handong, Doctor of Law, Professor and Doctorate Candidate Supervisor; Director of the Center for Studies of Intellectual Property Rights of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, which is the Key Research Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences in Universities by the Ministry of Education of China and the National Research Institute of Intellectual Property Rights Protection; Member of the Social Sciences Committee of the Ministry of Education; Honorary Chairman of Intellectual Property Rights Law Association of China Law Society (CLS); Special Consultation Expert of the Supreme People's Court and Supreme People's Procuratorate; Arbitrator of the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission of China . Professor Wu has published more than 10 books, including: Study on Fair Use of Copyright, Research on Intangible Property etc. and more than 100 articles in Chinese Social Science, Chinese Journal of Law and China Legal Science, etc. Many of his books and articles have won over 10 awards, mainly including National Prize for the First Excellent Doctorate Dissertation, the First Prize for Excellent Legal Research Achievements of the Ministry of Justice, the Book Prize of the First Government Award of Chinese Publication Industry, Second Prize for the Excellent Achievement of the Humanities and Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education., and Second Prize of the First Chinese Law Achievements Award etc. On the afternoon of May 26, 2006, Professor Wu was invited to deliver a speech to our national leaders on "Legislation and System Construction on the IP Protection in China" at the 31st Collective Study Meeting held by the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee. In 2011, Pro. Wu was honored as one of the "2010 China's 10 Most Influential People in IP" again, and was selected as one of the "Global 50 Most Influential People in IP" by MIP in 2009 and 2011.

David J. Kappos is a partner at Cravath. He is widely recognized as one of the world's foremost leaders in the field of intellectual property, including intellectual property management and strategy, the development of global intellectual property norms, laws and practices as well as commercialization and enforcement of innovation-based assets. Mr. Kappos supports the Firm's clients with a wide range of their most complex intellectual property issues. From August 2009 to January 2013, Mr. Kappos served as Under Secretary of Commerce and Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). In that role, he advised the President, Secretary of Commerce and the Administration on intellectual property policy matters. As Director of the USPTO, he led the Agency in dramatically reengineering its entire management and operational systems as well as its engagement with the global innovation community. He was instrumental in achieving the greatest legislative reform of the U.S. patent system in generations through passage and implementation of the Leahy-Smith America Invents Act, signed into law by the President in September 2011.

Kosuke Minami is the Director of the Regional Policy Office of the International Affairs Division of the Japan Patent Office. In this role since January 2013, he is involved in planning cooperation with countries in Asian, South American, Middle East and African region. He also takes charge of cooperation with WIPO and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to implement cooperation activities. Mr. Minami joined the JPO in 1993, and worked for Examination Department and Appeals Department mainly in the field of Semiconductor and Business Machinery. He was also in charge of Examination Guideline in Examination Standards Office, Patent Law amendment in Appeals Division, and international issues on patent examination as the director of Examination Policy Planning Office. Mr. Minami received his Bachelor degree in Agricultural Engineering from Kyoto University in 1993, and his LL.M. from the Temple University School of Law in 2008.

Dr. Jing-Shan Hu brings 20 years of experience in partnering, licensing, management, & research in pharmaceutical MNCs & biotech companies. She joined Bayer Healthcare in Oct 2011 as VP and Head of Global Drug Discovery Innovation Center China, responsible for partnering with innovative organizations in Greater China for Global Drug Discovery of Bayer HealthCare. She was Director of Licensing & External Research at Merck & Co/MSD prior. Previously, she worked at Roche Palo Alto as Head of Functional Biology after being Research Leader of Toxicogenomics; at Affymetrix as Program Manager, and at Human Genome Sciences as Scientist of Protein Therapeutics & VEGF-2 Project Leader. She served in 2006-2007 as the President of Sino-American Pharmaceutical Professionals Association – West (SAPA-West). Arian Duijvestijn graduated in technical physics from Delft Technical University. He joined Philips in 1986 and held various positions in development of optical drives before joining Philips Intellectual Property & Standards in 1993. Ben Wang is currently Head of Patents for Unilever Research and Development Center in Shanghai, one of the Company's global innovation centers. Prior to coming to Shanghai, Mr. Wang had been practicing law in California for over ten years, serving as IP counsel for clients ranging from Silicon Valley startups to Fortune 500 companies. He is licensed to practice law in California and Washington, DC, and is also a registered US patent attorney. Mr. Wang obtained his BS degree from Fudan University, MS degree from Harvard University, and JD degree from Georgetown University. After law school, he served as a federal law clerk in Washington DC, and taught intellectual property law as a visiting professor at Tsinghua University. Mr. Wang also gained knowledge in European patent practice by working at a German law firm in Munich, prior to returning to private practice in San Francisco.

Dr. Reiner Grabowski is heading the patent information analysis team of the Novartis Pharma division since 2009.
